L3 Individual Lessons for High School
- The Responsible Sex Education Institute offers individual lessons for high school students related to sexual health that are developmentally appropriate and medically-accurate, and are specifically designed to assist educators in implementing Colorado’s Comprehensive Health Standards.
- These 45-60 minute lessons combine information and activities to ensure that participants are engaged in the learning process and walk away with information they can use.
- Each lesson utilizes innovative technology and supports students in the development of 21st Century Skills
- The Institute is committed to comprehensive sex education which supports sexual abstinence as the safest choice for anyone wishing to avoid sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy while also providing information about contraception and infection prevention.
- The Institute asks for a payment of $75 + mileage, which helps to cover our costs and includes an expert speaker, all presentation materials, as well as condoms, internal condoms, and dental dams for participants (by request).

Anatomy: This presentation is designed to help students understand the different parts and functions of the sexual and reproductive anatomy while also discussing how to maintain the health of these body parts. It features a jeopardy game and a body-positivity activity.
Communicating about Sex: This presentation is designed to help students learn the importance of effective communication and how to start conversations with the people in their lives about sex.
Contraception: This presentation is designed to help students understand the different types of birth control methods available, what factors to consider with choosing a method and locating a provider within their respective communities where they can access birth control services.
Consent: This presentation is designed to help students understand what consent means and how it can apply to real-life situations. They will also learn skills for communicating with their partners about consent, and identify local resources where they can receive support in communicating this with their partners in either current or future relationships.
Healthy Relationships: This presentation is designed to help students identify the characteristics of a healthy relationship. We will look at examples of relationships to determine if they are healthy, unhealthy or abusive. They will also practice giving advice to someone who is in an unhealthy or abusive relationship. Finally, students will have the opportunity to determine what qualities are most important to them in their relationships or future relationships.
Introduction to Gender & Sexuality: This presentation is designed as an introduction to the difference between sex assigned at birth, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation. This lesson will present the ways in which we can avoid making assumptions about people’s identities.
Influences on Sexual Decision Making: This presentation is designed to help students gain an understanding of how the messages they receive from external sources can influence the decisions they make about sexual activity and relationships. We will also discuss how they might use this information to make healthy decisions in the future.
Reducing Sexual Risk: This presentation is designed to help students identify the difference between risk avoidance and risk reduction. We will discuss benefits of both avoidance and reduction in sexual relationships and identify when a person would want to employ either strategy.
Sex & Technology: This presentation is designed to help students navigate the risks and benefits of technology in relation to their sexuality.
STIs: This presentation is designed to help students learn more about sexually transmitted infections including types, transmission, symptoms and how/where to receive testing within their community. Additionally, students will explore the various strategies for avoiding and reducing the risk of contracting an STI.
